SuperNova Headlamp
The Black Diamond SuperNova Headlamp gives you three brightness settings in one bulb. This means you can regulate the amount of light you use in different situations. Setting up a bivy at dusk? Skinning uphill at dawn? It makes no difference to the SuperNova. Also equiped with a voltage regulator for even brightness, and a dimming switch so you can conserve power when you need. Should you require it, the SuperNova is also outfitted with a back-up LED that's powered by a separate six-volt battery. If your AA's die, you won't be up the creek. And you won't need to worry about waterproofing the next time you're on a canyoneering trip--the SuperNova is tested to the international IPX-5 Waterproof Standard (water sprayed from 3 meters at a flow rate of 12.5 liters per minute at a pressure of 30Kn/m2).

Black Diamond SuperNova Headlamp

Bottom Line: Get the SuperNova and don't get left in the dark.

Reviews:

A great headlamp
Thoughtful design, good balance, and all the lighting options you'll need. The LED is perfect in camp/tent, and the Xenon bulb is ideal for hiking at night or route finding. My inner Boy Scout appreciates the extra bulb stashed in the battery compartment, and back-up battery for the LED.

good lamp
Very helpful, the best lamp I ever held in my hands.

Not just for the weekend
I use this headlamp almost daily in my line of work(under houses and in attics), it is the best light on the market that I could find for its size, weight, and features. If you are looking for a light that will give a full 8-10 hrs of super bright light this is the one for you. This light can be worn all day with out any neck pain because it is very well balanced. The LED light is also very bright but only good for close proximty work(the blue-white light is nonglaring and not stressfull on the eyes. I even bought one for my freind(climbs telephone poles in the dark)who relies on this headlamp rain or snow or what whatever.

SuperNova ROCKS!
I can't believe how powerful the Supernova's high beam is. I like the dimming features when the high beam is not needed. The built in LED bulb is enough for use around camp. The half press switch (to toggle between brightness settings) is much easier to use than others.

Don't buy it !
This thing stinks. A pain to install the batteries. The light beams are not very strong. The headband is not very good. You probably would have to remove your gloves to turn it on in the Winter. I used it for one day and returned it. Replaced it with a Petzl Duo 3. I am so happy I did.
