| The Camelbak MULE is deservingly one of CamelBak's top sellers and is specifically designed for mountain bikers, but we've found it works splendidly for climbers and skiers alike. The Air Director back panel keeps you cool, while a sternum strap and a removable waistbelt keep the MULE secure on your back. An efficient and compact system, the MULE has 100oz of hydration and smart cargo spaces, complete with internal organizers for tools and small gear. Perfect for any outdoor enthusiast. |

Reviews:
CamelBak Mule I looked at a lot of Hydration Packs before deciding on the MULE. I wanted a pack that was small yet had the ability to hold a little gear. The MULE fits that description very well. Only negative I see is that it has a few too many storage areas/dividers that add a little extra weight to the pack. I would not hesitate to recommend this pack. It has bungee cord tie down that just adds more flexibility when storing clothes.
Best I've had. The Mule is an upgrade to a 'broken' hydration system I bought a few years back (valve is shot). To my surprise, it has exceeded all expectations I had when purchasing it. Not only is its 3 L volume handy, but it has an immense storage capacity for such a small pack, and it's comfort, and ease of use make it an extremely good choice. Really have no complaints whatsoever about this solid, and well thought-out pack.
Mule Hauls As an avid mountain biker / canoe tripper the mule is great. You can paddle and drink instead of rumaging around trying to find a water bottle that is covered in sand, leeches etc., on the bottom of a canoe. I can stow my paddling shoes, binoculars, sunscreen, bug dope, maps, keys, wallet, snacks and still have room for more. It also fits well while you portage a canoe without getting tangled with the yoke.
LAME instead of MULE I will keep it short and to the point. First in order to put a full bladder in to the pack you find yourself doing a wicked voodoo dance to get the damn thing in. It is great that it fits so tight but it is a real pain in the seat when you want to fill it. EVERY ride in my case. The other problem is you can’t put anything in the big main compartment because this only amplifies the NO FIT problem. Someone has to product test this stuff so please feel free to tell me how to use my pack because it is going to find a new home in the trash.
This M.U.L.E. Don't Run I have never been so disappointed with such a well-reviewed product in my life. I am training for a marathon, and have recently entered the "really long training run" phase of typically 17+ miles. Instead of doing water drops along the way, I decided to purchase, a MULE. Made sense. Keeps things simple and elegant. I ran an 18 miler yesterday. The water sack/valve/ mouthpiece apparatus is very fine and worked like a charm. The various pack straps, however, were a horror story. The sternum strap, because of the silly sliding connectors which keep it mated to a vertical cord on the shoulder straps, slid up and became a throat strap when I cinched it. Very tight, very unpleasant and it prevented me from yodeling during my run. The shoulder straps were equally flawed. Approximately every 100 yards they would loosen significantly, and I had to re-cinch them so the pack would stay tight to my shoulders and back. I don't know if it had to do with the shifting water in the bladder or what, but it was getting to me by about mile 2. I intend to return it.
