Apex Backpack - 1600cu in
The DAKINE Apex is a one-of-a-kind pack built for the freeride mountain bike crowd. Unique features like pocketing to accommodate a full-face helmet and external straps to hold body armor set this pack apart. The Apex holds a 100 oz Flowlock hydration reservoir so you can get a drink without fumbling for water bottles. If water bottles are your thing, there are 2 side mesh pockets for them. Drop-down organizer pockets keep gear where you left it. A compression-molded back panel insures rigidity so pack retains its shape regardless of load size. Details like a fleece-lined sunglasses pocket protect your glasses so you can still see your line after pulling shades from your pack. Breathable Dri-Mesh shoulder straps help move moisture away from your skin, preventing irritation.

DAKINE Apex Backpack - 1600cu in

Bottom Line: Totally original freeride mountain bike pack that accommodates all your quirky needs.

Reviews:

Dakine Apex Pack
I bought this pack for it's ability to carry all my DH gear while climbing uphill. I have used the full-face helmet pouch and pad straps several times already and have no complaints. I no longer have to balance my helmet with straps and bungee cords and I have heavy duty QR nylon straps for my pads. The sunglass pocket is also very nice. It's a great to keep the extra lenses for my shades or the shades when I wear goggles. The bladder is tough and has a big opening to allow ice cubes in. The bite valve works and doesn't leak. The pockets are just big enough and have full zippers. I definitely recommend this for any "Real" freeriders (those who still climb up to go down).

Apex Rocks for FR'ing
I used this pack for the first time last weekend on a ride that involved lots of climbing. I had plenty of room for all of my gear and then some. I love the expandable pocket for the FF helmet and the straps for pads on the bottom. The internal compartments do a great job of keeping stuff separate and easy to find. I Love how the middle pocket can open up all the way....it makes getting to stuff easy.

SWEET BAG
This pack is great, it not to heavy and you have plenty of space for all your gear.... the Helmet and shin guard straps are great.... A+++++++++++

great pack
l also bought this pack for its ability to carry my gear – especially to carry a fullface helmet. i haven’t used the pack very much as of yet, but that’s only because i haven’t been able to go out riding as often as i’ve wanted to. it has plenty of pockets, which is just one of the many added bonuses. the reservoir is excellent as well, with its large mouth opening and bite valve. the large opening allows for easy cleaning and also for putting in ice cubes. the pack is very functional and looks good which is another bonus.

Dakine Apex Backpack
The pack is great. It fits and rides very well. I'm 6'3" and finding a pack that fits can be a problem. The pack might not fit shorter torsoed folks as well. The only problem is the hydration reservoir. The bite valve totally sucks and it leaks profusely at the hose-bit valve connection. I tried a couple of things to fix the problem, but to no avail. No worries though, I put in a CameBak 100oz reservoir and I'm good to go. It was worth doing that because the pack is so nice otherwise.
