Buy two of the Pheonix 8mm ropes in the 60m length and use them in double-rope technique to decrease rope drag on wandering alpine routes or ice climbs. This system also allows you to make full-length rappels for a quick descent when you're running from an afternoon thunderstorm. For basic glacier travel, go with the 30m length. This little rope coils up so small that you'll barely notice it on the approach and is the perfect size for a rope team of three or four climbers. Both lengths are dry coated so they won't absorb any water when you're dragging them through slushy afternoon snow. |
