| The Marmot Full Zip PreCip Pant is a comfortable companion to the PreCip Jacket. Like the jacket, this waterproof pant has been updated for 2005 by engineers who simply got carried away. After all, aren't fully taped seams reserved for tents, dry suits and life rafts? Nevertheless, the Marmot team will get away with this one, because they've created a highly breathable, foul-weather pant that sheds water like vinyl but wears more like flannel. Even the knees and seat are anatomically articulated. What's more, it compresses down to the size of a handkerchief, so you can take them wherever you go. Details include a velcro tab on the waist for microadjustment, a snap on the elastic cuff, and a rear zip pocket. |

Bottom Line: The PreCip Pant is lightweight, breathable, compressible and supple. Take it backpacking, bike touring or sailing. Not suitable for scuba diving. |
Reviews:
Just when I needed it. I have needed rain gear that was flexible enough for me to wear to the office and handle my outdoor needs. Shortly after receiving the rain pants I went to the local University Football Stadium with my weight vest to walk the stadium to get my thighs and calves ready for Philmont this summer in New Mexico. Down came the rain and both my Precip Pants and Jacket exceeded my expectations for dryness and breathability.
A Marmot in Your Pocket I was shocked at the small package that fell through my mailbox when I received these pants. It’s just what I was looking for as far as weight and packed size is concerned for those days when you don't expect bad weather but, knowing Scotland, it might always be just around the corner. Full length zips are a real bonus over the pulls on older versions but the zippers are a little bit on the fiddly side with cold fingers. These obviously won't take heavy duty wear and tear but that's not what they're designed for. Good waterproofness and breathability on a recent warm and very wet trip to the Isle of Skye and amazingly quick dry out time. Great value for money. Would have been 10 out of ten but for the zippers so 9.9 it is.
Foul weather use sailing I used my Full Zip PreCip pants during a weeklong sail out of Vancouver BC and found them suitable for the one blowing light rain day we had underway. I recommend them for such use. I have not yet used them in heavy rain.
