| The Mountain Hardwear Transition Featherweight Zip Tee is a revolutionary first (and only) layer with the mobility, breathability, and windproofing to take you comfortably through almost any alpine activity. Transition promises a sweeping change not unlike the advent of wicking base layers that spelled the demise of cotton as a part of traditional outdoor clothing. Utilizing a Gore Windstopper N2S laminate, the Transition Zip Tee serves as a base layer, an insulating layer, and a shell—all in one. By decreasing the number of layers between your warm skin and the cold air outside, you get incredible moisture transport and breathability, keeping you warmer and drier than any other piece of outerwear. A polyester jersey knit outer laminate and brushed polyester knit lining keeps you comfortable at all times. The unique construction is both windproof AND breathable; a rare and precious combination for aerobic exertions in cold weather like climbing, Nordic skiing, or cycling. Stretch lycra at the neck, cuffs, and hem seal in a microclimate against your skin, further protecting you from harsh conditions. Wear the Transition Zip Tee next to skin on its own, or in rainy conditions as an insulating layer under a waterproof breathable shell. Note that the outer face of Transition may snag against abrasive surfaces like rock faces or the hook portion of Velcro. |

Reviews:
Mithril! A must own! This is the most incredible shirt ever. It fits like body armour and protects just as well. Windproof, darn near rainproof, and fast drying. The only disadvantage is restricted breathability. It could use some panel vents under the arms and four way stretch at the wrists to ease pushing the sleeves up, but the shirt stays dry even when you don't. Uncommonly warm, I've worn this as a single layer on frosty summit treks. WindStopper is unbeatable! My skin never got clammy. You can forget the jacket on day hikes and pare down on the layering during overnighters. Mountain Hardwear is swiftly becoming my favorite clothing line. It's a little costlier and heavier, but its built to last and functions like a beast. I've yet to make a purchase I didn't thoroughly enjoy.
No more layers This is an amazing piece of gear. It's windproof, breathable, and extremely lightweight. It's totally changed my layering system. My only complaint is that they need to sew the tags flat.
winter biking made possible This light, yet heavy-duty piece of equipment makes one hell of a winter biking shirt, wind and water don't stand a chance. It may be pricey, but for what you can get out of it with skiing, hiking, and as I've discovered, road cycling, it is a must own.
Nice Not what I was expecting, but very pleased regardless. Great for warmer windy days or if layered for the colder ones. Stretchy down at the wrists so it can be pulled over your hands. Trim fit which is nice if you are tired of baggy jackets. Not abrasion resistant but windproof and damn close to waterproof, very nice.
