| The Mountainsmith Specter Backpack is a large pack for alpine users who demand lightweight construction without sacrificing comfort or features. The Specter is the largest pack in Mountainsmith's Mountainlight series—a unique breed of packs that weighs two to three pounds less than most packs with comparable features, while giving up nothing in durability. One of its key features is a large dimensional front pocket that detaches for use as a daypack. Mountainsmith's Dimension Polyant fabric has greater tear strength and a higher resistance to abrasion, water, and UV degradation than 500 denier Cordura! Keeping you comfy and cool is a range of goodies, from a cooling spinal chimney design in the back padding to a frame width adjustment for maximizing shoulder strap performance. A full polyethylene frame sheet protects your back from pointy, pokey loads, and twin aluminum stays distribute the weight evenly. The Specter is a water hog. It's equipped with a hydration reservoir pocket with a shingled tube port (so rain can't find it's way inside your pack) as well as two large mesh water bottle pockets. Other excellent features include a hood that converts to a lumbar pack, a quick-store bungee, and an ice axe loop. Side compression straps stabilize the load and allow for adding on accessories. |
