Very well designed.
The entire filter can be disassembled without tools. It's also clear so you can see if something's not working. When I received the filter it pumped very slowly. I could tell that the input check valve was most stuck shut. I had it fixed in a few minutes. I used it on a camping trip. It pumped fast and produced good tasting water, that didn't have any problems.

Filtering water in the backcountry is expensive and heavy, but it can reclaim and purify water in almost any environment. Why choose this filter? This filter is very efficient, field maintainable, and protects from all concerns of bacteria. Compared to the Miniworks, if the main filter is not properly cared for, bacteria can grow in the fiter contaminating all fitered water. As a backup fiter, the PES Membrane will assure that all contamination is removed. The safest bet when traveling or going to areas where any water source may be vital. NOTE: Viruses will still remain after filtering - use iodine to kill the viruses and the taste will be removed by the carbon core in the main filter.

I've had my filter 3 seasons now and it is great. It screws on to a Nalgene bottle or an MSR Dromedary bag and then you’re off to the races. Just don’t drop the ceramic filter when cleaning as it can and will break. If you are traveling outside of North America get the Water Works since it cleans a little better than the Mini Works.
