Looks, 10; Quality...
BackcountryStore made the transaction convenient. The Oakley daypack itself is also convenient and quite jazzy looking. Lots of room for stuffing extra clothing, a couple books, a water bottle, miscellaneous small items in the side pockets, but I wish Oakley had taken advantage of the underside of the top flap to store a wallet or ID. The velcro flaps don't hold things in the way I had hoped--perhaps they are just for weatherproofing. Lots of visual treatment in pronged snaps, articulated handle, gridded nylon flaps; but I wish Oakley had made everything a bit more durable (one snap on a belt keeps un-popping and falling on the ground and the gridded nylon seems especially flimsy). I chose the Oakley Icon for its appearance and because all brands seemed about equal quality (although I was not able to examine Burton). However I would not mind paying 100% more for better quality. My (admittedly ancient) Sierra Designs bag lasted 30 years until I got tired of it, but that was from another era.
Back Pack
I ordered one of these top notch backpacks for my daughter's birthday. It is not used for camping or hiking purposes. She is a firefighter and has to be gone several days at a time. She can fit all the personal belongings she needs for several days and is thrilled with how well it is working for her. She likes the appearance as well. I received the package on the day it was promised and I was pleased as well, not to mention the free shipping.
Oakley Backpack
This backpack is awesome so far, and worth every penny I spent for it (a pretty penny, by the way)It is roomy and comfortable and there are a lot of little places for storage and what not. Plus it looks so darn cool. Anyway, I would recommend it.
Oakley Icon Backpack
Great backpack. I bought this for a friend's birthday. I have the same pack but it's an older version/model. I like the upgrades especially the laptop compartment. In fact, I like it so much that I'll be buying this new version soon.
pricey... but worth it???
okay, so many of you who are contemplating this backpack might have the dough to buy it, right? for myself, I’ve been looking at several North Face backpacks that compare to the icon... here's what I think so far... first, it doesn't have a cell phone holder like most North Face... also, no drink holders that hold bottles vertically.... the pouch that holds all of your pencils is not very secure and once inverted, will all fall out... so what do I think? well, if you ever put this backpack on, you will fall in love... the straps are comparable to North Face hiking backpacks... one of the most comfortable I have ever felt... the padding is excellent... what more, the colors (especially yellow and red) are pretty sweet... overall, I say that if you have the money, definitely get it... just my dos centavos.
