Aether 90 Backpack - 5500 cu in
If a weekend isn't enough to feed your appetite for the outdoors, then the Osprey Aether 90 will be with you until you're full. The Aether 90 has enough cargo space to keep you geared for a multi-day excursion, and is bomber enough for light mountaineering. From the ground up, the Aether is designed to be versatile. A sleeping bag compartment with divider is accessible independent of the rest of the pack, and the top pocket detaches and converts into a hydration ready fanny pack for those times when you need to move temporarily fast and light. When you are carrying the big pack, you'll find it amazingly light for the amount of support the suspension gives thanks to Osprey's Ethereal suspension system, which uses 3/16" fiberglass stays and a ¾ length framesheet which incorporates its own partial stay. The result is a shockingly light pack that rides as well as or better than heavier, traditional suspension systems. Front and side mesh pockets round out the Aether and let you separate your stanky socks and other essentials from the rest of your gear, and the straightjacket compression system will keep your pack profile reasonable even when its stuffed to the gills.

Bottom Line: Big loads and low weight make the Aether 90 a winner.

Reviews:

Unbeatable
This pack was the difference between the time of my life and a trip made miserable due to extreme discomfort. The pack's ability to distribute most of the weight to your hips is in my experience unbeatable (with possible exception to the Osprey Cresent series). It is light weight and when I loaded it up with 40 lbs. it felt like it was much lighter and when taken on extended trips, those I went with who had packs that didn't cost as much as this one, and even some with Arc Teryx packs, were more uncomfortable than I was. Great pack, Get it.

Aether 90 backpack
This is a great backpack. I need a big pack, and this pack is the answer. I carried over 50lb for 14 miles very comfortably this weekend, hiking in the Sipsey Wilderness Area in north Alabama. The pack has great extra features, plenty of places to store and clip various items. Best of all, it is very large, and it fits really well.

Aether 90 Backpack
I continually laugh to myself while hiking with my Aether 90. There is so much room that I don't know what to do. It rests on my hips well enough to allow a 15 miler without whimpering. My only reservation was the lack of external pockets, but with a little foresight in planning (Ziplock bags); all is well putting items in the main outside netting. And my fishing rod sets in a lower side pocket. Cool! The internal zipper-cavity under the hood provides additional space for toothbrush, etc. What else can I say? It was a major, worthwhile upgrade for me and my 3-4 day overnighters. I see it lasting ten years or more with its strong, simple strapping and zippers.-- Utah / Wyoming weekend naturalist, seeking to preserve and restore the WILD West.

40 miles in 3 days with 55 lbs.
The Osprey was very adjustable, I dialed it in at about the 25 mile mark, was able to carry all I needed for multi-day outings easy to balance weight between shoulders and hips. Sweet.

TRULY GREAT FIT!!
I took the review of this pack by Outdoor and Backpacker to heart when I purchased it and found their claims hold up. The comfort of this pack far surpasses the few shortcomings it has. Adjustable in all the right locations and very streamlined. Side mesh pouches are accessible on the fly. I might have liked 2 additional zip pouches on the sides but all in all a very good fitting and functional pack—especially for the price! Get out there.
