| You'll relish laughing in the ticket checker's face when you unzip the two components of the ingeniously designed Departure to meet carry-on requirements. The Departure's unique bi-component design includes a daypack and travel (or cargo) pack. But instead of the daypack attaching to the front of the travel pack like most comparable products, it zips to the backside to become the primary suspension affording a number of advantages. [Daypack:] With the daypack directly on your back, it's virtually impossible to detach so it won't be stolen while traveling. Larger than most detachable daypacks, it can carry your laptop and other heavy gear comfortably all day. It sports a twin stay, full framesheet, and breathable mesh back panel. Details include a padded organizer front pocket for your PDA, calculator, pens, and the like, and a host of pockets throughout. [Cargo:] A removable contoured shoulder strap allows you to carry the Cargo pack separately. Padded StraightJacket sidewalls and a plethora of internal pockets keep your clothing and toiletries safe, separate, and organized. A full length Delrin rod adds excellent load support. Suprisingly disappionted
The travel pack was a complete let down. The shoulder straps are not good enough for long carries and the design pulls the pack back from the shoulders. Once packed its difficult to turn around in tight spots, the pack stands out from the back about 20in plus.
